Chat-Talk with other webmasters about webmasters issues.
1. How did you start your online business? Well, that is a long story since I was born in Chile, raised in Ecuador, because we were Baha'i pioneers. But long and behold I ended up living in California, the center of the computer industry. Here I started learning very basic HTML which lead me to learn Cold Fusion (allaire.com) and SQL and all the other languages that accompany any other webmaster. Then I decided to do something big so I registered about 60 domain names and sacrificed 5 hours a day until I started a team of developers to further enhance the site. I think that sums it all up... 2. How does your business help webmasters? Well for one, it provides a number of web tools, it also gives them a shorter web address for them to promote their site and a bunch of other services (I can't tell you all of them because every month they grow). Not only do I personally try to simply give services but once in a while I get lost webmasters on my email box or on the icq net we use and we always try to help them out. If there is anything else I can do please do email me at webmaster@thegovernment.com. 3. How did you go about promoting your web site? Just like you. I talked with other webmaster who were like me but did not know how to program and little by little made sure I only gain traffic and lose any by keeping my webmasters happy. We have not been promoting since the beginning because we are still beta testing. 4. When did you start your business? Beta testing started last year, about 2 weeks ago we officially opened but we are still developing and testing (I guess you always need that). I did not keep track when was the first day our site was on the net but it was sometime last year I presume. 5. How has your business grown? Largely. That sums it all up rather well... 6. Do you have any tips for webmasters? Well, it really depends, some webmasters give me tips and some ignore my comments so I can't make a generic, or template comment to make everyone happy. The only tip I can give is that as long as you don't lie and keep a good reputation with other webmasters to create trust then you are headed in the right direction. 7. Do you have any other comments? I can think of many, ill be happy to help anyone who is reading this article, you can email me (or one of the other web masters here) at webmaster@thegovernment.com And by the way, if you are webmaster and are interested in creating a web site by NO means be intimated by the 50 year old webmasters who have experience. Some of the most interesting people I know are 17-25, and some of the most radical and experimental webmasters I know are even younger.
