Make More, Spend Less!
Is your web site losing money? Believe it or not, it's not hard to make a profit in the first few months of web site/online business launch. You simply must budget. Well, I guess it's not that easy, deciding what you don't need, and what you do.
First of all, start off by eliminating the services that you absolutely don't need. Do you really need to be paying for all that banner advertising? Is it really worth what you're paying? You probably shouldn't be paying more than a few cents a click. You can fair much better advertising in a Pay-Per-Click Search Engine.
What about your web hosting plan, do you really need all that space? You might consider reducing your plan, or finding a new web host with enough space to grow but reasonable priced. Believe me, they're out there.
So we've covered some of the cost-cutting techniques, now what about the making more part of it?
Are you currently a part of an advertising network such as DoubleClick? If you are chances are you're not making as much as you could if you went out and recruited your own advertisers. This can be difficult, but try to find advertiser that are advertising on site related to yours, email them and ask if they would be interested in advertising with you.
You may also want to join a program such as Commission Junction if you haven't already. They offer 1000's of affiliate programs to join, chances are there are a few programs in there that would fair well on your web site. Integrate your links discretely and try joining their service yourself, it it's any good recommend it to your visitors in newsletters, in articles, etc.
Fill your unsold banner space with affiliate banner links, but always give advertisers first priority. If you can pick up 2-3 great advertisers who stay with you month after month, you should be in good shape.
These are just a few ways to maximize profit, and decrease spending. To recap: cut what you don't absolutely don't need, and take advantage of advertising and affiliate programs.
